I like taking my Volvo to 17th Street Automotive for the following reasons: I get to know the mechanic, Joel, who works on the car. He always errs on the cautious side of recommending repairs. A recent example: The car's system gave me an alarm alert of a major malfunction. He reset the electronics and the problem went away, although he did caution that it might come back in which case he would do further diagnostics. I was charged only $20 dollars. The car ran well for four more weeks and then, just as he had indicated, the problem recurred. Upon further diagnostics it turned out to be a fuel sensor, which cost a little over $300. The other reason I like taking my car there is that I can usually receive service either the same day or the next. No waiting for several weeks like at the dealership. All the technicians are highly competent and they are all friendly and courteous. :)
