Our active duty son’s car had been out of inspection for several months. Not wanting to ask for help, he didn’t call home to let anyone know there were problems with the vehicle, so it sat without being driven. We found out during a spur-of-the-moment visit about the issue. There were dash lights on and multiple noises and it couldn’t pass inspection if it had to. My husband went over the problems and had O’Reilley’s diagnose the computer codes, but didn’t have the tools or time to make as many repairs as were required. We found 17th Street Automotive online, and after reading numerous glowing reviews about their honesty, called for an appointment. We explained our situation, that we were visiting from out-of-state, and that we weren’t even sure our son’s car was worth fixing, but asked for an estimate of repairs necessary to pass VA inspection. We also inquired about the scope of work able to be performed at the shop, finding the site’s services to be comprehensive. My husband had a good idea what was wrong with the car before calling, which made the final list of problems easy to accept. We would vouch for their honesty. Joel at 17th Street was courteous and flexible. He told us he would estimate repairs and we could work out payment if we decided to proceed with the work (the only downside to 17th Street is they can’t or won’t take credit card payments over the phone). Our son dropped off his car and within a couple of days we had an estimate of approximately $1600.00: oil change, spark plug change, cleaning of carbon deposits, wheel bearings, MAP sensor, inspection, and rear rotors and pads. The work was completed in a timely fashion for slightly less money than we were quoted. My son says the car now runs like a champ. No noises and no lights. I mailed a cashier’s check to the shop and when they received it, my son was able to pick up his car. I can’t thank 17th Street Automotive enough for taking a leap of faith. Military families are separated by miles and we, as military parents, do the best we can under the circumstances. Kudos to Joel and crew for helping take care of our sailor.

Joel and his crew went above and beyond to help me out. On a family trip from North Jersey, my brakes began grinding pretty badly in Delaware. I called Joel and asked for a bit of help. He was able to get my truck right in and fix the brakes and another issue he found. I believe he even put his local customers on hold in order to help me out. If that isn't service, I don't know what is! Outstanding service station and, while I hope I don't need it again, if I'm ever in VA Beach again, I will be sure to come see Joel and his crew!

Water pump started leaking coolant on the last day of our vacation. Took the car here and they had us in and out super fast. Right next to the beach so we went swimming while they worked on it. Definitely recommend!

My son was in VA Beach on vacation when his car started leaking coolant. These guys got it diagnosed late on a Sunday afternoon and fixed the Water Pump and Thermostat and had him on the highway by Monday afternoon and didn’t charge him a ridiculous price as an out of towner. Super nice and professional. You can’t go wrong using them for your vehicle.

A HUGE, HUGE, HUGE THANK YOU to 17th Street Automotive!!!!!!! I was on my way to work when my car broke down. Being new in town I was a bit nervous (literally in tears) to have my car towed to just any mechanic or some shop (though my co-worker was the one to suggest them). What a HAPPY SURPRISE... THEY WERE HONEST! The service manager (?), Joel... is the BEST!!!!!! Joel told me straight out, no beating around the bushes or suggesting unnecessary work. Joel explained (in terms that I understand) what needed to be done, best and worst scenario, part that needed to be ordered and when it would be ready for pick up. WOW!!! I picked up my car the following morning... PERFECT!!! Again WOW! Extremely pleased! Then to follow, Ken (office management)?, called and asked if I was satisfied!? Again, WOW! WELL DONE!! I literally will only take my car to 17th Street Automative. Thank You Guys!!!
